Ballyhale Shamrocks 0 – 19 Newtownshandrum 0 – 17
Ballyhale Shamrocks from Kilkenny overcame Newtownshandrum of Cork in the 1st of todays club semi-finals at Semple stadium Thurles, Ballyhale opened up a three point lead in the first 10 minutes of the game, after that, it was nip and tuck all the the way to the finish. there was very little to choose between both sides, the Kilkenny champions were physically stronger, Newtown played a more running game where Cathal Naughton was their best player, Henry Shefflin took the man of the match .

Will King Henry and his Knights melt Ben and Jerry ?

Tomorrow at Semple stadium Thurles, will see the first ever meeting between Cork Champions Newtownshandrum and Kilkenny Champions Ballyhale Shamrocks in the All Ireland club semi final, they have never even met in a practice match .
On paper Ballyhale must be favourites with many notable senior Kilkenny players or panelists such as Henry Shefflin, James (CHA) Fitzpatrick, the Reids T.J and Eoin and the three Fennellys, Newtownshandrum are powered by Cork seniors Ben and Jerry O’ Connor, Cathal Naughton and ex senior Pat Mulcahy.
Ballyhale have won 4 All Ireland club titles, 7 Leinster club titles, 13 Kilkenny senior titles all achieved since 1978, Newtowns run of success was built up in the last 10 years , in that period they accumulated 1 All Ireland club, 3 Munster and 4 Cork senior titles, by my calculation , they have identical strike rate , hence tomorrow game will be a deciding rubber, maybe the match could end up “Love all” ( Val day )

Cork V Kerry Prediction

Cork play host to Kerry tomorow evening at Pairc ui Rinn, this will be their first meeting since the All Ireland final last September when Kerry dominated once more, Last year Cork showed plenty of ability under Conor Counihan who has introduced a good blend of the long ball and the short passing game which was grossly overused prior to he becoming manager. Kerry will travel up without being wound up , however they are still capable of a decent effort , results are not the end all at this time of the year and I believe both teams will be keeping plenty in reserve for the championship season ahead. Verdict :Cork should be motivated enough to win after their victory against Monaghan last weekend.
